Shunning is the one bit of personal power JW's are granted by the Governing Body. The rest of their life is "do as you're told" situation.

I finally get why people like to shun.
by poopie init finally hit me today.
why do religions enjoy shunning.
because many people feel like being close to god makes them special however just being special is not enough for many religious people that shun they must feel extra special how?

That's right. I can spot stupid from 500 yards.
You must be a lot of fun at a party. Just curious...how many decades did you spend as a JW before you spotted a bit of stupidity in yourself and became such an expert on the topic?
Seems like it might be a good idea to be less harsh when referring to the questions asked by others who aren't as enlightened as you are. (Just sayin' )

Marc & Cora on YouTube causing unnecessary divisions
by jambon1 inwhat is it with this pair?
why do they have to constantly have a bitch about guys like john cedars?
a very recent video of them shows them calling him a 'village idiot' and making other disparaging claims.

John Cedars always comes across as kindly toward the individual JW but when it comes to the organization itself, he tells it like it is.
Some of the former JW couples I've seen on Youtube come across a bit smug and full of themselves at times but to me, all of them have something to say. I'd rather simply not watch them than to live in a world where they had to censor themselves to suit everyone's sensibilities.
In terms of the JW's in Russia, I don't wish them any harm nor do I think they should be banned. All I want from the Watchtower Org. is a public admittance that they are not directly guided by God and an apology for how their human error and shortsightedness has damaged countless number of individuals and families.

I was raised a witness starting in the late 1950's. It amazes me that someone who claims to have once been a JW is so poorly informed about the religion they say they once believed.
You were raised as a JW since the late 1950's . I'm guessing you stopped believing once you realized how "poorly informed" you were yourself. It seems you've retained the superior judgmental attitude however.

That's a good way to end up on a sex offender list and do jail time, not to mention getting a well deserved ass kicking from the Woman's husband or child's father.
Can't believe the moron posted this video...it would be easy enough to find out who he is.

Wasn't there a scripture that showed that Jesus only wanted his followers to continue with the memorial until he entered into his kingdom? (Which of course was back in 1914 according to JW's.)

Sorry to hear about your Father, it's quite a blow when they walk into the hospital voluntarily and never walk out. The same thing happened to my father and on top of that it was a routine surgery but it turned out he needed blood a day or so later, due to a leak in an artery. He was too weak to un-sign the blood directive and didn't survive. On top of that, he wasn't even a JW....just studied with JW's. A short time later, they OK'd the use of "blood fractions" which would have saved him.
I was curious if your DF'd niece was told that her great grandmother wanted to get in touch with her ? If not, perhaps you could get her to make the call and somehow make sure Grandma is available to answer the phone directly so as to avoid interference by your Aunt.
It seems to me that old folks have on some level realized what's truly important and because of their limited time left, are willing to cut through all the nonsense.

I need your opinions and recommendations please.
by bola inafter my exit from the watchtower shunning cult, i have received tons of invitations from different churches.
but because i am aware of religious cults, i need recommendations of churches that are not cults at all.
after exiting the watchtower cult, i don't want to fall into another religious cults.
-

The watchtower organization ruined me for religion and God. When it comes to that topic, I trust nobody and I'm done with agonizing over what the scriptures supposedly say or don't say or whether there's a god or not.
I have no recommendations for you other than to say, don't limit your search to only Christianity or take any religious teachings too seriously or base any of your major lifes goals or decisions on what other groups of people have to say.

2017 Special Conventions.
by ToesUp injw special conventions.
who's going?.
are you "special" enough to be chosen?.

I curious as to how these cities were selected to have a "special" assembly. I'm guessing the JW's there are statistically known per capita for being generous contributors and that assemblies in these locations are profitable or maybe in these areas there is need of some additional indoctrination to be more generous. Either way I'm guessing there is some non "$piritual" reason these locations are being targeted.
